But it is so much more. Yoga is an ancient science, which established around a question we all might ask sooner or later: Who are we? It is the journey of the self to ultimately uncover your true self.
In search for truth early Yogis started practicing different techniques leading to the evolution of consciousness . Over many years Yoga evolved. Being traditionally passed on from guru to disciple over many years of intense practice, and a sacred bond, Patanjali was one of the first Saints who wrote down systematically how Yoga should be practiced.
In our online classes you will learn about the origins of Yoga, its philosophical system of concepts, and you will be introduced to different techniques for a regular, holistic self-practice.

Module 1 – Introduction to Yoga philosophy (2h)
We will follow back the traces of Yoga and find out where it derived from originally.
You will get an overview of the 6 main philosophies in India. We will have a closer look at Samkhya as one of these, and study its relevance for the development of Yoga.
We will discuss the question what Yoga is – today and originally and learn about its connection with the vedas.
Module 2 – Ashtanga Yoga after Patanjali (3h)
Understand the 8 limbs of Yoga by Patanjali and learn about their relevance for today´s life on and off the mat. You can choose a topic to write an assignment on and get the chance to discuss these in one of our life sessions with Devvrat and your fellow students.
Module 3 – Patanjali´s Yoga Sutras (4h)
We will get to know Saint Patanjali, one of the key figures of Yoga history. In talks and discussions you will learn about his systematical documentation of Ashtanga Yoga known under the name of Patanjali´s Yoga Sutras. Yoga Sutra is having 196 sutra and divided in four chapters.
Chapter -1 Samadhi Pada
Chapter -2 Sadhana Pada
Chapter-3 Vibhooti Pada
Chapter-4 Kaivalya Pada
It will be very hard to progress in yoga without understanding Patanjali Yoga Sutra. It throws light on each and every aspect of yoga not just asana or physical practice.In this Session ,We will connect philosophical & scientific approach of yoga with the physical practice and find ways to apply the Sutras on the mat as well as in daily situations.
Module 4 – Bhagavad Gita and Yoga (4h)
The Bhagavad Gita teaches a lot about Yoga. We will have a closer look at certain chapters, analyse, and understand its relevance – yesterday and today.. It gives complete view about not just yoga but also about our personal life , social conduct and about our whole cosmic existence. Bhagavad Gita have total 700 verses divided in 18 chapters.
In this four hours session, we will highlight only those sutras which are closely related to yoga practice and provide gist of whole Bhagavad Gita.
Module 5 – Theory Behind OM(2h)
OM Chanting has very important place in yoga practice. Almost all ancient Indian Scripters accept importance of OM and describe it in various way. Specially Vedas, Upnisads and Patanjali Yoga sutra explains about OM and describe its significances.
Some scripture says just by chanting OM one can attend Kaivalya(Self Realization) other says it is sound of universe and very first Mantra.Patanjali says that OM is indicating Supreme Consciousness who is responsible for all cosmic creation. By meditating upon OM one can experience Samadhi(enlightenment).
Gist is same in all scriptures only explained in different way.
