The famous Varkala Cliffs in Varkala, India
Having spent over a decade living, practicing, and teaching yoga here, we have tested just about every work cafe Varkala has to offer. Below is a curated list of our favourite spots that welcome laptops (and plugs), offer good food, and carry the kind of peace yogis seek.
1. AUM Cafe
If you’re looking for the ultimate laptop friendly cafe in Varkala that ticks all the boxes, AUM is hard to beat. Tucked only 5 minutes away from the central cliff stretch, it offers a quiet, spacious, and inspiring space for deep focus. As you can hear in the name, AUM cafe is also highly related to yoga lovers, so in terms of vibe, music and food, the yogi vibes are good!
Why we love it:
- Truly the very best coffee in Varkala – from classic espresso to Vietnamese iced coffee and vegan coconut lattes, AUM has it all.
- Plugs at every table, making it ideal for all-day laptop sessions.
- Calm, ambient music that supports focus rather than distraction (a rare but much appreciated blessing here in India).
- Sattvic vegetarian food ranging from ayurvedic kichdi to smoothie bowls and palak paneer. Yum!
- Ocean views that make every break like a breath of fresh air.
- Less foot traffic than the central cafes, offering more peace.
- Strong and reliable WiFi.
What to keep in mind:
- While the vibe is peaceful, it’s still a public cafe, so serious business calls may not always be ideal. But for writing, designing, or creative work, this is a dream setting.
Tip: Next to the amazing coffee, the yogis who prefer tea should definitely try the vegan matcha latte. In terms of go-to dish, AUM cafe’s Kichdi is really unique, ayurvedic and perfect fuel for a day of focus.
Bottom line:
Out of all the work cafes we have tried in the past 10 years we’ve been here, this is without a doubt our favourite place, especially if you’re a yogi who needs to blend productivity with peace, this is our top pick for a laptop cafe in Varkala.

2. Soul & Surf
This surf hotel also offers a garden cafe, perfect for sunset working or slow mornings.
Why we love it:
- Spacious garden with stunning sunset views.
- Comfortable lounge seating and wide-open spaces.
- Thoughtful and relaxed atmosphere — ideal for journaling, drawing, or light laptop work.
- Fusion menu with unique twists on Western classics.
What to keep in mind:
- Limited plug points
- Not many classic tables with standard chairs to sit on, so you’ll need to practice your lotus pose or dandasana 😉
- A bit pricier because of the view and vibes.
- Located a bit further from the cliffs, but walkable distance.
Tip: Try their signature coconut drinks and mezze platters
3. Sun Fransisco
Smack in the middle of Varkala’s lively cliff strip, Sun Fransisco is a vibrant cafe for creators who thrive in buzzing environments.
Why we love it:
- Plenty of tables and community energy — ideal for co-working.
- Huge menu with something for every craving, including teas and vegan options.
- Stable WiFi and dedicated counters with plug points.
- Panoramic views over the cliffs and ocean.
What to keep in mind:
- Can get crowded during peak hours.
- Music is energetic and might not suit deep focus tasks.
Tip: Even though we haven’t been able to try everything from their endless menu , we recommend the vegan chai or a classic lassi (so far).
4. Inda Cafe
A bit off the beaten cliffs, this secret garden cafe is part of a boutique hotel. Ideal for a peaceful sunday brunch & work session.
Why we love it:
- Tucked away in a jungle-like garden.
- Cosy nooks for deep focus.
- Breakfast deal with unlimited chai.
What to keep in mind:
- Service can be slow.
- Limited tables, so it is recommended to go early.
- The food is decent, but not extraordinary
Tip: Try the Turkish coffee and pancakes

5. Lumuma
Why we love it:
- Expansive garden area.
- Resort-style vibe.
- Calm and quiet — ideal for light work or reading.
What to keep in mind:
- Not many plugs.
- Lounging encouraged more than working.
- Can get pricy if you plan to stay all day.
Tip: The Ayurvedic dosha teas and the vegan, healthier sweets are a must.
6. Paddle Cult
A surf club with a chill cafe and poolside work possibilities.
Why we love it:
- Beautiful poolside setting.
- Perfect for journaling, casual emails, or planning your next trip.
- Light, fresh menu.
What to keep in mind:
- Not built for serious work days.
- Better for short stays or breaks between surf sessions.
Tip: Try out their surf lessons during your break, they are very professional and fun.

Bottom Line
Varkala has slowly transformed into a beautiful hub for mindful living and remote working. Whether you’re a digital nomad or simply someone balancing inner work with outer projects, there’s no better place to be. These all day cafes in Varkala are just a few of our favourite spaces to sit with your laptop, enjoy delicious food and enjoy the sun. But if we were to give one must try all-rounder cafe to work in, it would definitely be AUM cafe.
